EMailDiscussions.com - MailSnare recommended, FM not ...
There is a very long discussion thread at EMailDiscussions.com about some things that I say on my IMAP Service Providers page that starts with a message that says this:
So far I've only read some of the messages but I wanted to say few things right away.

I just noticed on the excellent site of Nancy McGough (ii.com) that she highly recommends MailSnare (even to her friends), but not FM .....
So far I've only read some of the messages but I wanted to say few things right away.
- My recommendations for or against providers does not have to do with referral fees.
- I have actually never received any money from any provider because I don't have any electronic payment system set up.
Some providers, including MailSnare and FastMail, have offered to send me a check but I've asked them to hold onto the money for me.
I'm hoping to someday use that "electronic money" to buy other things over the Net (another thing that I haven't done (at least not with my
credit card)). - I do not know how much I've earned in referral fees from Runbox because Java quit working on my Mac OS X system and their
Affiliate stats program requires Java. When I upgrade to Panther, I will get Java running again. And then I'll be able to see how much I've earned from Runbox referral
fees and update that info on my IMAP page! - The person who said "I
get the feeling that warning #4 is #1 so to speak"
is probably right but, as I say in the FM section of my IMAP page, I think this
could be an indication of buggy code in other parts of FM.
It is hard for me to give FM a thumb-up when I still periodically see this in my FM Referrals:
Referrals earned since last payment: $-6.00
and know that it is likely because of a bug that I reported and FM agreed was a bug.
I am concerned that they haven't fixed this bug, which seems to have existed for a long time,
and I'm also concerned about the other 3 Warnings that I list.
- I have great respect for Jeremy and FM and I think that they have done more than just about anyone else to help spread the IMAP word to the masses!
- I much prefer NNTP or IMAP discussion groups so that's why I don't post at EMailDiscussions.com (which I also have great
respect for) or most other web-based discussion groups.
