. . . gives you the chance to prepare your farewells in advance. The letters you prepare here are personal, private ‘last’ email messages that will be sent to your family and friends one day – but only after you die.
I had an email conversation with John Levine about this new service and he said this:
I would have to call MyLastEmail terminally stupid.
If you have to print out your key and put that info with your papers, you
could equally well print out the messages, seal them into addressed
envelopes and put them in the same place. I suppose there might be
security issues depending on whether the message is "I will always love
you even from beyond the grave" or "I got your mother drunk one day and
I'm your real father," but I don't see it being a whole lot harder to
reroute the secret e-mail messages to oneself than to steam open an
envelope.
And this:
It must be a swell service, people are dying to use it, yuk, yuk.

In addition to John's thoughts, I suggest that you read the
Terms and Conditions, which include this:
Please be aware that Mylastemail.com may provide certain user registration and statistical information such as usage or user traffic patterns in aggregate form to third parties but such information will not include personally identifying information.
I am wondering if "such information" includes the user's and the user's family & friends' email addresses?
My recommendations for MyLastEmail, if they are interested, are:
- Update the Terms so that they explicitly state that email addresses are never shared.
- Get rid of frames.
- Get rid of the cheesy stock photos. (For why, see #4 at The
Ten Most Violated Homepage Design Guidelines)
